Staycation at Sentosa ~Day 1 at Adventure Cove~

Hotel Equarius

The month of July was a fruitful one, with time well spent at the local integrated resort - Resort World Sentosa. Gambling is not my cup of tea, so my sis and I booked a package worth SGD 404
per pax which includes two nights stay at Hotel Equarius and one-day entry each for the following attractions: Adventure Cove, S.E.A and Universal Studio Singapore.

Sounds like a good deal right?

Entrance of Adventure Cove

Since we could only check into our hotel room after 12, so we decided to go to Adventure Cove for some splashy action. :) The weather forecast was not that promising, but we did enjoy ourselves despite some drizzle and a short disruption of 30 min.

Smiley for some splashy action!

The park has rows and rows of lockers for you to deposit your bags. The lockers are freaking expensive, with the small ones priced at SGD10 and big ones at SGD20. My sis and I brought our luggage (one backpack and one gym bag) and managed to squeeze all into the big one. Though it is a little pricey, the lockers can be opened for unlimited times. After depositing our bags and applying suntan lotion, we were ready to go!

The big wave

The giant wave will appear every 20-30 min and lasts for about 5-10 min? It was quite difficult to mount the float when the wave was sweeping you off your feet, so one has to get up onto the float before the wave hits. It was fun at first when the wave swept through and the current rocked you up and down, but soon we felt giddy and couldn't wait for the wave to stop haha.

The Reef 'n Wave Wear

The drizzle and the pending storm forced the park to stop operating for a while, so we decided to walk around and look at the shop selling swimwear and paraphernalia. Nothing much to buy from that shop. Perhaps they should come up with a mascot like Spongebob and Patrick, this will make people want to get some of their products instead of the no-name, not-so-cute dolphins.

Dueling Racer

We walked past the Dueling Racer, which is too thrilling for us. :( We rode on Riptide Rocket which is one of the popular rides in the park. It seemed mild because the thrilling parts were well hidden behind the dense forest and the tunnels which masked the terrified screams of innocent poor souls (like us). The Riptide Rocket is basically a rollercoaster on water. Ride it if you like plunging drops and adrenaline rush!

The Bay Restaurant

We had lunch at the Bay Restaurant inside the park. The prices for the set lunches range from SGD11-17 which is quite reasonable for a touristy attraction. The food is palatable, not fantastic though.

Fish and Chips, chicken wings

We saw some dolphins swimming in rounds inside their little pools, looking kind of cooped up. :( Not sure what they are going to do with the dolphins.

Cute bins, do keep the park clean!

The Rainbow Reef is another attraction, which allows you to go snorkeling with an array of fish. The immersive experience is free of charge haha. I have gone for snorkeling before when I was young so I got used to breathing through the device after a few practices. But for first timers it may be a tad difficult. The unhelpful staff made the matter worse, as they liked to chase people down to the pool with virtually no briefing (a short question of "Anyone not know how to snorkel?" with no follow-up doesn't count!). Not a really pleasant experience, but I still love snorkeling nevertheless. Just do not snorkel in some artificial pool with scant amount of fish and coral reefs (are there any reefs to speak of anyway?).

Anyway, after the not-so-enjoyable snorkeling, we went back to the Adventure River which surrounds the park for some floating action. Just lie back on your float and let the current bring you to...around the water park. Chillax.

After chilling for about two more hours, we decided it was time to check in. We left the park at about 4:30 pm.

Walking towards the hotel.

Conclusion: The Adventure Cove is quite enjoyable and suitable for family and friends, with wholesome activities for everyone, be it thrilling rides for the adrenaline junkies, or simply chilling out on floats for the people who just want to relax. Just improve on the snorkeling experience and that will be great.

More about the hotel in the next post! :)
