late night radio

managed to catch the broadcast at 2am last night, and i didn't sleep throughout the night. seriously. it is because last night's theme was JAPANESE DRAMA theme songs!!

nostalgic. and probably feeling a bit poignant when the familiar chord struck and resonanced in the silent night. classics like "can u celebrate", "totsuzen no love story", "la la la love song" were chosen, and the DJ commented after half an hour, saying that why nobody requested for KinKi Kids' songs. lol is the DJ a kinki fan??? or is kinki really that classic?? (omg, that makes kinki sound like someone in the past)

responding to the comment, i jumped up from my bed and posted my virgin comment on the forum, stating a list of kinki songs which are theme songs for dramas. and i realised they did starred in a LOT of dramas in the 90s. and dramatically decreased output in the millenium. koichi especially, starring in only one drama in 2002, then another in 2007, which flopped, sadly. tsuyoshi has better luck with the audience, and boy, everyone likes watching him act. but sadly he prefers playing music to acting in dramas.

speaking of tsuyoshi, seems like hk ppl watched Summersnow. the response was overwhelming last night, the DJ even talked about it for 5 minutes, which was quite significant considering the limited time given for each segment. Summersnow, another classic churned out by tsuyoshi (the first one is "to Heart"). memorable, as the story is too beautiful. the music too. though not sung by kinki kids, the music is so beautiful that it is almost painful to listen to. it brings back a lot of memories.

glad that the DJ put in two kinki songs. wow. two. by the same group of singers! haha. i suspect he is a kinki fan himself :P

here is one he missed, which is a pity, cos a couple of listeners requested for it. a real classic by tsuyoshi:

there is no other kindaichi!!!

[HK trip 2009] Day 1 - The Peak, Victoria Harbour at Night

The sky was still pitch black when my dad and I dragged the luggage at 5.56am. I was not going to HK with my family this time round, and to be honest, I was feeling apprehensive, probably a little homesick already. To maximise our time, we took the 8.30am CX flight to HK. *yawns*

As usual, the plane food was inedible, the in-flight entertainment didn't have my favourite songs/movie, but I laughed through He's Just Not That Into You. After an tolerable 3 and a half hours, we reached HK on time and oh boy, we were so early that the immigration officers waited for us instead of the other way round. First time! Normally I would ve to wait for, erm, 20 minutes at least? to clear the immigration check. We got off from the airport at 12+pm, and the airport was virtually EMPTY. I should take CX710 everytime I go back. Save me the hustles.

By the time we checked in the hotels and settled down, we were DAMN hungry. So we went to this pioneer centre (a small-scale shopping mall actually) for dim-sum :D It was having tea-time promotion and each big, medium or small dimsum cost less than 2 sgd. The quality was so-so, but good enough to feed the hungry souls. After billing, we found that we were the lone table, as the tea-time promotion period was ending and the staff had to prepare for dinner time. oops.

Fed and energised, we made our way to the Peak and took the tram uphill. 6 sgd for a less-than-5minutes but unique experience.

The scenic view from the top. Not exactly the top, because we didn't go to the tower. Anyway it was foggy, so it was best not to waste another 3sgd to go up and take foggy pictures.

The Lion Pavilion is another good spot for photoshoot. See the prcs camping there.

We descended the Peak at 6+pm and made our way to the ferry pier to cross the harbour. Unfortunately, it was peak hour :( The central area was filled with people, and the traffic was getting heavy. I made a crazy decision and decided to WALK to the star ferry pier. Really crazy idea. My original plan was to take the tram (ground) to Wanchai and then walk to the Conference Centre to view the Golden Bauhinia. But the swarm of people might make us late for the Symphony of Lights whcih starts at 8pm.

So we walked. For 20+ minutes at least, till we were dehydrated and almost crippled. The rocking star ferry didn't make it better. But the light breeze was soothing enough.

Finally we reached the harbour, and it was dark. All eyes were set on the night view. Tsim Sha Tsui offers the best view, I must say.

Of course, it looks MUCH better with raw eyes. Enchanting, really. It isn't voted as one of the best night views in the world for nothing. The view was so mesmerising that the pain on my feet was forgotten.

the Clock Tower.

the Symphony of Lights was okay only. It would look much better if more buildings were involved. By the middle of it, it looked kinda lame with IFC standing there luminating the skyscape and the Hop-Wor building sprouting a few beams. But during the firework display every CNY, it complements perfectly with the fireworks, not stealing the limelight. Anyway, the buildings themselves make the night.

After almost falling asleep during the show, we walked along the harbour to the Avenue of Lights. It is the lane where handprints of famous celebrities who contributed to the movie industry in HK lie.

One of the famous celebrities: Siao Fong Fong. Those celebrities who died before they can make their handprints had their plates reserved, but the handprints are replaced by a star. One of whom is Leslie Cheung. For fansof the 4 Heavenly Stars, good news. They are all on the Avenue of Stars, alongside with Jackie Chan, Eric Tsang and many more.

After walking through the Avenue of Stars, we called it a day and went back to the hotel. I need to nurse my feet haha.

under the pool~

rewatched stitch(2002) again on youtube, and enjoyed watching how lilo swim like a fish in the Hawaiian waters, making me yearn for a cooling swim under this horrid hot weather.

and i swam like a fish in the pool, after 1 yr or so without doing so. after 13 laps, my muscles felt like they were coming apart soon, and my stomach rumbled as if there was a typhoon ripping up my stomach walls and eating the energy out of me. so we went to have my favourite hokkien mee :D guilty food, but it was rewarding. what is the better way to end the day than eating hokkien mee for dinner?

back home, i washed up and hung my stinky, Cl + S smelling swimsuit. dad cooked beef milestrone soup for dinner, when i was not at home for dinner :( i hit the sack at 8 30pm haha, too early but i was too tired to stay awake until the news came up at 9pm.

after in coma for 5 hours, i woke up feeling groggily but managed to watch two episodes of CSI:NY before sleeping again. *yawns* good life. dun ve to worry too much abt waking up early next day.

i wish everyday can be swimming day :D

johnnys fever

my comp just hates me and refused to play code 3 DVD, which means i cldn't indulge in edward cullen's sexy voice. so i re-watched koichi's solo concert (to commemorate the pending solo concert in august?) and endless shock ver. 05&08 AGAIN (dunno how many times).

somehow i like the older ver. maybe is becos of the cast. i like the gd old times when the four members of MA were goofing around, especially akiyama, who was always "bullied" by sadistic koichi(haha!) and the other members.

of course, the female lead is MEISA.kuroki. this girl, i know one day she will make it big (oh, yea). she was 17? 18? when she took part in endless shock. i thought she was 24 haha. too bad she looks taller than koichi, though her profile states that she is 167cm (puberty, i guess). and wat a princess. her recent performance in Subaru, Dance! has won many praises from critics. i rmb when endless shock first came to stage, some k-fans commented that she cldn't really dance. her role is just somewhat like a damsel in distress, a female dancer who loves the star of the show irrevocably, not much of a character (even though she has a pivotal role which builds the climax). perhaps she was young and inexperienced, but she put in a lot of effort over these 4yrs to improve on her skills. and now she wow-ed the audience with her brilliant, professional-looking dance moves. too bad the female lead dun do endless shock the second time. if nt i wld like to see the meisa X koichi combo again.

nt that the 08ver is all bad, i do like the changes(yes, there ARE changes, they are nt exactly the same). the storyline is the same, but this time round the cast explores more of the broadway shows, and re-enact some classic moments from those classic musicals (west side story, for instance). the shows in the show have employed better illusions, and transformations are smoother. some stunts are stepped-up (e.g. flying to the second storey), fortunately the number of steps for the infamous staircase stay the same (the number of steps STEPPED up this yr, omg). the drumming section is more captivating, and koichi has learnt more moves.

sometimes i wonder if koichi is a genius. jack of all trades, yet master of all (though his voice still a bit shaky..stop smoking, koichi). that's wat i look for in an idol, who constantly upgrades himself/herself and improve on his/her crafts. under the glamorous veneer, this guy has talent. tts why i followed him (and tsuyoshi, of course) for...9 yrs? ya, since 2000. but i like koichi since 2003, after i discovered :P he is humorous (i love jokers). and he can dance haha. hmm. and he can write songs (nt much of a singer, but sometimes he does sound nice). love him (& him).

and those new johnnys idols, so called, are like puppets. young, dance, and sound horrible, but have huge fan base made up of screaming young girls. mb i am old, but i really can't find much joy in watching those off-pitch dudes dancing or posing on stage.

so, kinki, nt kids anymore, still have a few more years to strive before i really get tired of them (can i possibly be tired of them?).

destination: hong kong

fel finally contacted me for the hk trip next week haha. and mr.brain wondered if we r still gg to hk, since we still have nt updated him with details when the day is nearing. yup, and i shld be planning for the trip now...this will be my daily programme for this week (while i am managing my rc)

fel has gone to hk the week b4 with her family, f&e, and she missed it alr haha. so far we decided on some spots:

1) the peak (at night). i want to go there, since i have nvr seen the harbour view at night. if the weather is good, we can get an awesome shot of the world-famous night view.

2) H&M. fel n her mom spent a grenade at that shop. mark this as one of the shopping destinations :)

3) ngong ping 360. shld we be gg to see the buddha by cable car? this can be more ex but more fun(and dangerous). the only prob is that the cable car is life-threatening at times and it has an irregular schedule.

4) shenzhen(day trip). i nt fond of china, though it is cheap and is just across the border. i guess i will make my trip to wanchai and meet up with my relatives while my frens are up there happily having their SPA treatment.

so far, no suggestions to disneyland or ocean park. haha. i can always go there when i go back to hk, or go to some 3D2N disneyland resort promotion. or wait till disneyland@hk expands to the size comparable to the tokyo disneyland (i guess i will ve to wait for another 10 yrs or more). shopping wise...will causeway bay area be costly? my budget is 1000+ hk for shopping. hmm. ve to tink abt it.

used the interactive itinerary machine provided by the hk tourism board. and it keep suggesting disneyland over ocean park. hmph. personally i tink ocean park is much more interesting and can really spend a whole day (or one and a half, if queueing takes half of ur time). i scorn disneyland. \(-_-)/

meanwhile i shld do some more research and discuss with them on sunday :)

lazy summer afternoon

went out with nat for lunch at LOT1, and had a good chat for the whole afternoon, hovering between the dessert store in the basement and Ah Wang coffee shop. she is not doing hons too, and had alr signed on to moe and shall be enrolled into nie in late june.

then we talked abt what if we become tchrs. she suggested we can go starbucks and mark the papers. haha. by then we can afford to starbuck. and mof (japanese dessert cafe).

i told her abt the j.tan n his still-no-show reply, she told me not to worry and allow him 3 working days to process it. well, if i keep sending him mails it will look like i'm spamming him or wat.

and after slacking at ah wang for too long, we went to popular and browse at some O lvl texts, and i realise i can't ans wat is greenhouse gases. lol. and the stupid electrochem stuff. i guess i can ans tt. mb. ahah. i better invest in a 10-yr-series n mug b4 i commence teaching.

though we may nt go to nie at the same time, at least i can ve some company, nw tt my closest pals r off doing hons. :( guess it is time to be REALLY independent, lah.

RC

re-read my last post and found that it is full of vengence. :P shld tame it down with this light-hearted one.

I got my first taste of entrepreneurship at this little online game called Restaurant City. It started out as a small, cosy family restaurant, and over a span of 2 mths, it expands to some kind of CHINESE SEAFOOD JUMBO RAMBO. haha. and it is still expanding.

I am starting to like it, because I can see FAT HARD CASH rolling in (at a pathetic rate of $2 per 5 seconds), my orchestra of chefs performing a wonderous symphony using woks (yes, who doesn't love that ching-chang?), and patrons scooping up the last of the kiwi sherbet (I hate it when people waste MY food).

The only (visually) unsatisfying about RC is that THE RESTAURANT EXPANDS TOO SLOWLY. The floor grows by strip (note: no "s"), to be exact. It is stretching at a painfully slow rate of 1 strip in 2 days (depending on how fast you churn out your gourmet points). And I can only emply 8 staff. EIGHT!! how can I expand my empire and spread the wonderful taste of Chinese cruisine with just 8 human beings??? I need an army of at least...500. But I dropped that idea because I don't even have 500 friends haha.

Maybe I will get tired of it when I start work, because by then I will not have all day to watch my dearly chefs dishing out bowls of ramen to those hungry souls (or zombies shld be the better word, since those patrons streaming in look like zombies).

and speaking of hungry souls, I have to pull out the noran because they are overwhelming, and my poor staff is too fatigue to entertain them.

stay tune for more updates.

i am so jealous

hmph. pooh intro me to archie's blog and found out that archie, the joker, got *ahem* all AAAAAAs!!!!! hmph.

moreover, he played with N2!!!!!! i have been dying to do that ever since i saw the programme "Kitchen chemistry". and archie wil be visiting the niagara falls!!! (it is Niagara Fall"S", nt niagara fall) hmph.

well, i will go to NF and the grand canyon and disneyland@florida when i save enuf $$$.

still haven hear from tt J.tan. pls email me, if nt i will be living on needles.
